Leader in Contemporary Lighting Design

George Kovacs has been leading the way in contemporary lighting design for more than forty years. George Kovacs was a designer, manufacturer and importer of innovative and stylish modern lighting fixtures; not to mention that he introduced the ambiguous halogen torchiere to the United States. At this time, a team of the world's leading designers, including Karim Rashid, Alecia Wesner and Rachel Simon continue to develop original fixtures with his legacy and influence as an inspiration.

For many years, Kovacs designed and manufactured his products from his own Brooklyn-based facility; but in 2000 he sold his studio, designs and naming rights to lighting manufacturer the Minka Group. Kovacs passed away in 2007 at the age of 80. A true design creative thinker, Kovacs left an enduring impression on the lighting industry and the design community as a whole.

George Kovacs lighting is a well-priced collection featuring a wide range of high-quality fixtures that integrate modern elements like brushed steel, chrome and embellished glass. With a focus on creating simplistic, sophisticated modern lighting, the George Kovacs lamps are an excellent option to accent commercial and residential spaces. This line features wall sconces, pendants, ceiling lights, bath lights and table and floor lamps. Both halogen and incandescent options are available.
